It marks the 25-year-old’s first major victory and second title on the LPGA Tour.

🏎️ Oscar Piastri won the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona on Sunday (local time), extending his lead in the Driver’s Championship. The 24-year-old now sits 10 points ahead of McLaren teammate Lando Norris. Meanwhile, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen has been criticised for a crash with Mercedes’ George Russell, which saw the four-time world champion receive a 10-second penalty and finish 10th in Barcelona.

🎾 Daria Kasatkina is the only Australian remaining in either the men’s or women’s singles draw at the French Open. The 17th seed advanced to the fourth round over the weekend after upsetting 10th seed Spaniard Paula Badosa. She will play teenage sixth seed Mirra Andreeva tonight. Alexei Popyrin was the last remaining Aussie in the men’s draw but was eliminated in the fourth round by American Tommy Paul overnight.

⚽ Melbourne City are the 2025 A-League Men Champions after defeating Melbourne Victory 1-0 in the final on Saturday. Yonatan Cohen scored the only goal of the match in the 10th minute. Melbourne City and Socceroos star Mathew Leckie was awarded the Joe Marston Medal for the best player on the ground. It’s the second time that Melbourne City has won the A-League. For Melbourne Victory, it marks the club’s second consecutive grand final loss.

Australian cricket star Glenn Maxwell has announced his retirement from One-Day Internationals. Maxwell scored nearly 4,000 runs in the ODI format across a 13-year national career, including an astonishing 201 not out off 28 balls at the 2023 World Cup. The result was all the more incredible given he had broken his leg in an accident at a friend’s party the previous year. Maxwell plans to focus on Australia’s campaign at the T20 World Cup.

Two dead and hundreds arrested in Paris after PSG win Champions League final
Two people are dead and hundreds have been arrested in France following celebrations of Paris Saint-Germain’s (PSG) 5-0 victory over Inter Milan in the final of the Champions League on Saturday night (local time).
Nearly two dozen police officers have been injured, including one who is in an induced coma after being hit by a firework.
What happened
The football final was played in Munich, but nearly 50,000 fans gathered near Parc des Princes, PSG’s home stadium, to watch the match on big screens.
Chaos ensued in the celebrations following the match, as fans clashed with police. Around the country, 559 people were arrested and 192 were injured.
Two people are confirmed dead: a 17-year-old boy who was fatally stabbed in the town of Dax, and a 23-year-old man who was hit by a car while riding a scooter.
What they said
In a statement on social media, the club said: “These isolated acts are contrary to the club’s values and in no way represent the vast majority of our supporters, whose exemplary behaviour throughout the season deserves to be commended.”
French President Emmanuel Macron said authorities would “pursue” and “punish” those responsible.

Joe Montemurro announced as full-time coach of Matildas
Football Australia has announced Joe Montemurro will be the next coach of the Matildas.
It marks the conclusion of a lengthy search for a full-time head coach, following the departure of Tony Gustavsson after the Paris Olympics.
Montemurro, who comes to the Matildas from top-flight French women’s team Lyon, will begin as coach on 16 June.
Montemurro
Montemurro is an Australian who has spent the past decade coaching at the highest level of European women’s football.
His most recent role was at French club Lyon, where he coached the side to a national title two weeks ago.
At Lyon, he coached Matildas player Ellie Carpenter.
Montemurro has also coached and won titles with Melbourne City, Arsenal, and Juventus’ women’s sides.

Montemurro said: “There’s a generation of talent coming through and major tournaments on the horizon. My job is to honour the legacy, harness the momentum, and help this team play football that inspires and unites the country.”
Football Australia Interim CEO, Heather Garriock, said: “Joe brings world-class experience, a deep understanding of the Australian football landscape, and a genuine connection to our national identity.”
What’s ahead
The Matildas will be in action tonight against Argentina in the second of two friendlies. On Friday, the Matildas won the opening match 2-0. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30pm in Canberra.
