Good evening!
The football world is on notice after Ronaldo Jr., son of Cristiano Ronaldo, received his first call-up to play for Portugal. The 14-year-old will take to the field for the country’s under-15 side this month as he looks to carve his own path in the world of football.
It seems unlikely that Ronaldo Jr. will be playing alongside his father at the 2026 World Cup, but stranger things have happened.

Francesco Acerbi of Inter celebrates scoring the equaliser to force extra time (Getty)
Inter Milan edge out Barcelona in thriller to secure spot in Champions League finale
The Champions League semi-final tie between Inter Milan and Barcelona came to a dramatic close this morning, with Inter producing a remarkable comeback to win 4-3 and secure their place in the final. The Italian side’s opponent will be decided in tomorrow’s second leg between Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
What happened
After a thrilling 3-3 draw in the opening leg of the fixture last week, Inter and Barcelona put on another dazzling display this morning. With a raucous home crowd at the San Siro behind them, Inter opened the scoring in the 21st minute courtesy of Lautaro Martínez. They then doubled their lead with a penalty on the stroke of half-time. Barcelona changed their tune after the break, scoring two goals in the 54th (Eric García) and 60th (Dani Olmo) minutes.
Then, in the 87th minute, Barcelona claimed the lead for the first time in the match with Raphinha finding the back of the net. Barcelona’s lead only lasted five minutes as Inter veteran Francesco Acerbi forced extra time with yet another goal. In the 100th minute, Inter’s Davide Frattesi scored the matchwinner, sending Inter to its second Champions League final in three years.
Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer was named Player of the Match.
Arsenal v Paris Saint-Germain
Inter’s opponent in the final will be decided tomorrow morning as PSG host Arsenal at Parc des Princes in Paris. PSG head into the match with a one-goal advantage after winning last week’s opening leg 1-0.

Jack Doohan’s season may get cut short (Getty)
Aussie Formula One driver Jack Doohan on cusp of axing in tumultuous week for Alpine
Speculation has grown this week around the stability of Australian Formula One driver Jack Doohan’s position at Alpine. Doohan is expected to be replaced by Franco Colapinto ahead of the Emilia-Romagna GP on 18 May. To add to the turbulence at Alpine, currently ranked ninth of ten teams, Team Principal Oliver Oakes resigned earlier today.
Doohan
In his first five races as a full-time driver in Formula One, Doohan has struggled to make his mark. He has crashed out of two of six races (Australia and Miami), and his highest finish so far is 14th in Bahrain.
He is under extra pressure because Alpine’s reserve driver is Colapinto. The Argentinian was with Williams last year, where he raced in nine GPs and finished with points on two occasions.
Oakes’ departure
Alpine released a statement this morning announcing Oakes had resigned from his role as team principal, effective immediately.
The principal manages the entire F1 team, like a coach. They give press conferences and make staffing decisions.
It also noted the team’s current Executive Advisor, Flavio Briatore, would take care of Oakes’ responsibilities while maintaining his current position.
Briatore was once subject to a lifetime ban from F1 over his involvement in a plan to fix a race in 2008. He successfully appealed the ban in court and returned to the sport.
Piastri voices support
Fellow Australian driver Oscar Piastri, who is currently leading the drivers championship, has voiced his support for Doohan.
He told ABC News Breakfast: "Coming to F1, especially as a rookie under pressure… I do feel sorry for him in some ways. It's not been the easiest start to the year for him and I know how hard it is to get to F1 in the first place. So I think whatever happens, he can be very proud of the journey so far."
