Good afternoon,
Today, the Milwaukee Brewers won the World Series, beating the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 in Game 5 to win the best-of-seven series 4 games to 1. The World Series is the final of Major League Baseball, North America’s top baseball league.
It’s the first time the ‘Brew Crew’ have ever won the title, ending a 57-year wait.
Fun fact: The Brewers got their name from Milwaukee’s rich beer-brewing history, which stemmed from a wave of German immigrants in the mid-1800s.

The ad showed Sweeney nearly nude but covered by pieces of sporting equipment. Titmus added: “But you know what? I’d do it again. I just think how far we’ve come and how incredible our female athletes are around the world. It didn’t sit very nicely with me.”

🏏 The Australian Test cricket team have silenced doubters on Day 2 of their final Test against South Africa with an impressive batting performance to put themselves on level terms with the Proteas. Captain Pat Cummins was criticised for opting to bowl first in Cape Town after South Africa posted a strong total of 329 runs in their first innings. However, confident batting from Matthew Renshaw (74 runs), Cam Green (65 runs), and Josh Inglis (85 runs not out) means Australia now leads by one run with six wickets in hand (4/330). Meanwhile, Marnus Labuschagne has put himself under another selection cloud after being dismissed for a duck (0 runs). Inglis and Carey will return to the crease to bat for Australia on Day 3 tonight (AEDT).

🏐 Australia’s Diamonds have held onto netball’s world number one ranking after defeating New Zealand’s Silver Ferns 68-58 in the fourth and final Test of the Constellation Cup in Melbourne. While the Diamonds won the match, the Silver Ferns were the team celebrating after winning the overall series 3-1 and reclaiming the Constellation Cup for the first time since 2024. If New Zealand had swept the series 4-0, they would have also usurped Australia as the world’s top-ranked team. The Diamonds will now look ahead to defending their title at the Netball World Cup on home soil next year.

A message from Frank Green
Nobody has ever been glad to find their water bottle open at the bottom of their gym bag.
After close to 12 years making reusable drinkware, frank green is fixing that with Edition II, its new generation of bottles and cups. Lockable lids and secure seals keep your drink where it belongs. Four-wall insulation keeps it hot or cold for longer, and every piece is dishwasher safe.

Another man is now being investigated in connection with the alleged sexual assault involving the Sydney Swans
A man is being investigated over a secret recording linked to the police investigation into an alleged sexual assault involving Sydney Swans players.
The recording was reportedly made after the alleged incident at Melbourne’s Pullman Hotel in August, when the Swans were staying there. Four Swans players remain under investigation over the alleged sexual assault, and no criminal charges have been laid. The players have denied criminal wrongdoing.
Here is what to know.
Investigation
Five Sydney Swans players – Isaac Heeney, James Jordon, Nick Blakey, Chad Warner and Riley Bice – were suspended by the club in August for a “serious breach” of its behavioural standards following a game against Essendon.
Victoria Police are separately investigating allegations of sexual assault at Melbourne’s Pullman Hotel, where the Swans were staying that night. Four players – Heeney, Jordon, Blakey and Warner – have been interviewed by police.
Bice has since been cleared of wrongdoing and is being treated as a witness. The club suspensions related to breaches of behavioural standards and do not mean the players have been accused of sexual assault. No criminal charges have been laid, and the players deny criminal wrongdoing.
Latest
Victoria Police have seized a recording made by an unidentified man as part of their investigation into the alleged sexual assault at the hotel. The Herald Sun reported the recording captures the alleged victims talking among themselves in the days after the alleged incident.
The women are understood to be upset that they were recorded without their knowledge or consent. The man reportedly contacted Sydney Swans officials after the incident, prompting the club to report his approaches to the AFL’s integrity unit.
Victoria Police later seized the recording from a property in Melbourne under warrant. Police have reportedly spoken to several people about the recording. The nature of any allegation against the man remains unclear, and Victoria Police have not commented on the development.
It is separate from another recording, reported to be about 20 minutes long, which contains one of the women’s accounts of what happened in the hotel room and was handed to investigators earlier.
What’s next?
Police are expected to refer their evidence to Victoria’s Office of Public Prosecutions, which will assess whether charges should be laid against the four players still under investigation. A decision is expected in November.
The AFL will also conduct its own investigation once the police one is complete. Separately, two of the women are pursuing civil action against several players and the Sydney Swans.
