Good evening!
The White House has seen plenty of sports played on its grounds before, including basketball, tennis, swimming, and ten-pin bowling (Richard Nixon had an underground bowling alley installed in 1973).
Now, President Donald Trump is considering hosting a UFC fight on the White House grounds. Trump has long been a fan of the mixed-martial arts sport. Last month, he appeared ringside alongside UFC boss Dana White at a championship bout.
The event would be part of celebrations for 250 years of American independence this year. Trump said: "Every one of our national parks, battlefields and historic sites are going to have special events in honour of America 250. And I even think we're going to have a UFC fight. Think of this on the grounds of the White House."

The total cost is expected to be $7.1 billion, covering the building or redevelopment of 17 venues. That includes a new 63,000-seat stadium at Victoria Park to replace the Gabba as Brisbaneโs home of AFL and cricket. It is the largest ever federal funding grant for Australian sports infrastructure.

"It is heartbreaking for the group that Elliot's tour is over. He is a Lions legend who has added so much to the group on and off the field over the past few weeks and over the course of three tours. Owen will now come in and add to our options and bring his own Lions experience to the group."
British and Irish Lions coach Andy Farrell announcing that veteran fullback Elliot Dalyโs tour is over, after scans revealed a fractured forearm following Wednesday nightโs victory over the Reds. Former England captain Owen Farrell (Andyโs son) will now join the tour. Owen has played on three previous Lions tours and is Englandโs all-time leading points scorer. He has not played any international rugby since captaining England at the 2023 World Cup. The Lionsโ next game is against the NSW Waratahs in Sydney tomorrow night.

๐๏ธ Oscar Piastri will head into the British Grand Prix this weekend hoping to retain his lead in the F1 drivers' championship. The Australian sits 15 points ahead of McLaren teammate Lando Norris, with defending champion Max Verstappen a further 61 points behind. Piastri said that he doesnโt expect it to just be McLaren vying for the race victory, adding: โItโs a track I always enjoy, and Iโm expecting it to be a good fight with whoever it is.โ The last time an Australian won at the iconic Silverstone circuit was in 2012 when Mark Webber was victorious with Red Bull.

Sudden death of Liverpool star and brother shocks football world
The football world is in mourning after the sudden deaths of Liverpool and Portugal star Diogo Jota, and his brother Andrรฉ. The brothers, who were both professional footballers, died in a single-vehicle car accident in Spain.ย
Context
Jota joined Liverpool in 2020 and played a key role in helping the club win a Premier League title this year. He scored 65 goals in 182 appearances for the club. The 28-year-old was also a forward for Portugal and won two Nations League titles with his country. Andrรฉ played for the Portuguese second-tier club Penafiel.ย
The crash was reportedly caused by a tyre blowout as they attempted to overtake another vehicle. Authorities are investigating whether or not speed was a factor.ย
A father of three kids, Jota had married his long-term partner just 11 days before the crash.ย
What they said
Portugal teammate Cristiano Ronaldo said: โDoesnโt make any sense. Just now we were together in the national team, just now you were married. To your family, to your wife, your children, I send my condolences and wish them all the strength in the worldโ
Former Liverpool manager Jรผrgen Klopp posted on Instagram: โThis is a moment where I struggle! There must be a bigger ยญpurpose! But I canโt see it! Iโm heartbroken to hear about the passing of Diogo and his brother Andrรฉ. Diogo was not only a fantastic player, but also a great friend, a loving and caring husband and father! We will miss you so much!โ

Boxer Julio Cรฉsar Chรกvez Jr. ahead of his fight against Jake Paul (Getty)
Former world champion boxer Chรกvez Jr. set to be deported from U.S. days after fight with Jake Paul
Boxer Julio Cรฉsar Chรกvez Jr. is set to be deported from the U.S. to his home country of Mexico after he was arrested for lying on his green card application and overstaying his visa.ย
His arrest comes just days after the 39-year-old former middleweight champion was defeated by YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in a bout in California on Sunday.ย
What happened
According to Chรกvezโs attorney, the boxer was picked up by a group of federal agents in front of his home in Los Angeles. The Department of Homeland Security released a statement announcing his arrest.ย
In the statement, the department said: โFollowing multiple fraudulent statements on his application to become a Lawful Permanent Resident, he was determined to be in the country illegally and removable on June 27, 2025.โ
The DHS confirmed Chรกvez was arrested by agents from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE), which has been the subject of widespread protests in LA in recent weeks.ย
It added that the boxer has โan active arrest warrant in Mexico for his involvement in organised crime and trafficking firearms, ammunition, and explosives.โ The statement also alleges he has ties to the Sinaloa Cartel, a large, drug trafficking transnational organised crime syndicate which has been designated by the Trump administration as a Foreign Terrorist Organisation.
Chรกvezโ lawyer denied allegations he is associated with the cartel.ย
Julio Cรฉsar Chรกvez Jr.
Chรกvez Jr.โs career highlight as a boxer came in 2011 when he won the WBC middleweight title. He successfully defended it three times. He is the son of Julio Cรฉsar Chรกvez, a member of the International Boxing Hall of Fame who held world titles in multiple weight classes.ย
Before his bout with Paul, Chรกvez Jr. had only fought once since 2021.ย
Jake Paul
After defeating Chรกvez on Sunday, Paul was elevated to number 14 in the World Boxing Association (WBA) rankings in the cruiserweight division. Paulโs professional boxing record now stands at 12 wins and one loss. The top-15 ranking is significant because it means Paul is now eligible to challenge the world title holder, Gilberto 'Zurdo' Ramirez.ย
After the victory, Paul posted on X: โIโve worked hard to get here but there is nothing to celebrate. Long road ahead and Iโm more committed to it every single day. I may veer off the path now and again, but being a world champion is my desired ultimate destination.โ
