Good afternoon!
The NRL has announced that any player or agent who negotiates with breakaway competition R360 will face a 10-year ban.
The Australian Rugby League Commission made the ruling today after legal advice, declaring that unrecognised leagues threaten the game’s integrity.
Rugby 360 is a new rebel rugby union competition reportedly targeting high-profile NRL players with multi-million-dollar offers.
ARLC chairman Peter V’landys said the move was necessary to stop organisations that “seek to pirate our game for potential financial gain.”

"You wouldn't be outlandish in thinking – it's actually not an opinion, it's a fact – it's probably the worst Australian team since 2010 when England last won and it's the best English team since 2010."
Former England cricketer Stuart Broad speaking on a BBC Sport podcast about the lineups for this summer’s Ashes series between Australia and England. The Ashes is a five-Test series held every two years. Australia is hosting this year’s edition, with the first match set to begin in Perth on 21 November. The 2010/11 Ashes was the last time England won the series on Australian soil. Australia has held the Ashes since winning the 2017/18 series.

🏏 Sri Lanka’s Women’s World Cup clash with New Zealand ended in frustration after rain washed out play before the second innings could begin. The hosts had posted an impressive 258 for six, led by Nilakshi de Silva’s 26-ball half-century, the fastest of the tournament, and a steady 53 from captain Chamari Athapaththu. Both teams shared a point, leaving Sri Lanka waiting for their first win and New Zealand with a tougher road to the semi-finals.

Israeli athletes to miss gymnastics world champs after Indonesia refuses to issue visas
Israeli gymnasts, including Olympic gold medallist and defending world champion Artem Dolgopyat, have been barred from competing at next week’s World Artistic Gymnastics Championships after Indonesia refused to issue visas.
Here’s what to know.
What happened
Senior Indonesian minister Yusril Ihza Mahendra said the decision was due to “Indonesia's commitment to support Palestinian independence.”
Indonesia has the world’s largest Muslim population and has no formal diplomatic ties to Israel. A U.S.-led ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas went into effect this week.
Indonesia’s decision prompted an urgent appeal from the Israel Gymnastics Federation (IGF) to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
The CAS rejected the IGF’s first appeal “due to a lack of jurisdiction”. According to the CAS, a second appeal is still ongoing but will not be ruled upon before the championships begin on 19 October.
An IGF statement described Indonesia’s decision as “outrageous and dangerous to the sporting world.” It urged the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) to relocate or cancel the event, but the appeal was rejected, with the court ruling that visa decisions fall outside the FIG’s authority.
In a post to Instagram, the IGF said: “We are deeply concerned by the recent decisions that could negatively impact the future of all our delegations and the future of sport in general.”
Indonesia and Israel
It’s not the first time Indonesia has moved to bar Israeli athletes from entering the country. In 2023, Indonesia lost the opportunity to host the Under-20 FIFA World Cup for refusing to admit Israel.
The South East Asian nation was also banned from the 1964 Olympics for refusing visas to Israeli athletes for the 1962 Asian Games. The decision to ban Indonesia from the Olympics was overturned, but it boycotted the Games anyway.
