Good afternoon.

It’s been 493 days since English football fan Frank Ilett last had a haircut.

The Manchester United supporter promised in October 2024 that he wouldn’t cut his hair until United won five games in a row.

The club’s last five-match winning streak came in February 2024. Since then, Ilett’s hair (and his following) have grown significantly.

This morning, United came within one goal of ending it. On a four-match winning streak under new manager Michael Carrick, they drew 1-1 with West Ham.

If a Gold Coast Titans fan had made a similar pledge, we might have ourselves a real-life Rapunzel. The last time the Titans won five straight games was in 2020.

12:15am, Freestyle Skiing: Women's Moguls Final 🇦🇺 🏅
The women's moguls final will determine the medal winners following qualification rounds. Reigning Olympic champion Jakara Anthony will be one to watch as she seeks to become the first Aussie to defend a Winter Olympic title.

4:30am, Speed Skating: Men's 1000m 🏅
The men's 1000m speed skating final sees athletes race laps around an oval track in the pursuit of Olympic glory. Aussie Brendan Corey missed out on the final.

Milano Cortina ‘26: The headlines

In case you missed it…

Defending Olympic champion Jakara Anthony and Olympic silver medallist Matt Graham both secured direct qualification to the final of the women’s and men’s moguls, respectively. Anthony qualified with the top score of 81.65, and Graham qualified 10th with a score of 75.77. Five other Australians (Emma Bosco, Charlotte Wilson, Cooper Woods, Jackson Harvey, and George Murphy) will all have a second opportunity for qualification. The women’s final will be tonight, and the men’s final will be on Thursday night (AEDT).

Australia's cross-country skiers delivered their strongest Olympic sprint performances at Milano Cortina 2026, led by Hugo Hinckfuss's historic 42nd-place finish. Hinckfuss's result marks the best-ever Australian performance in an Olympic sprint, while Lars Vik Young (51st) recorded the equal second-best men's result. Ellen Søhol Lie matched that achievement in the women's event, finishing 50th from 89 competitors. The men’s event was won by Norwegian cross-country star Johannes Høsflot Klæbo, while the women’s event saw Sweden take all three podium spots with Linn Svahn taking gold.

Australian snowboard cross veteran Cam Bolton has been airlifted to hospital after breaking his neck during training at Milano Cortina 2026, ending his fourth Olympic campaign. The 35-year-old crashed on Monday and woke with worsening neck pain the following day. Scans revealed two fractures. Chef de mission Alisa Camplin said Bolton was in good spirits and had been joined by his wife.

Norwegian biathlete makes unorthodox confession after winning bronze medal

Sturla Holm Lægreid is hugged after an emotional medal ceremony (Getty)

Norwegian biathlete Sturla Holm Lægreid used his bronze medal victory at Milano Cortina 2026 to make a desperate public appeal to win back the ex-girlfriend he cheated on.

The 28-year-old was in tears after finishing third in the men's 20km event on Tuesday, but not because he finished third.

Here's what to know.

What he said

In an unorthodox post-race confession to Norwegian media, Lægreid revealed he had been unfaithful to his partner, calling her a "gold medal in my life."

"Six months ago, I met the love of my life, the most beautiful and kindest person in the world," Lægreid said.

"Three months ago, I made my biggest mistake and cheated on her. I told her about it a week ago. It's been the worst week of my life," he added.

"I hope that committing 'social suicide' might show how much I love her," he said. "I'm taking the consequences for what I've done. I regret it with all my heart."

Lægreid contributed to Norway’s relay gold at Beijing 2022, and has seven world titles.

Anything but Milano Cortina ‘26

Socceroos forward Mohamed Toure netted three goals on his first start for Norwich City in a 3-0 Championship victory over Oxford on Tuesday. The Championship is England's second tier of professional football, sitting one level below the Premier League. The 21-year-old netted his first goal within 51 seconds before adding two more, becoming the first player since 2013 to score a hat-trick on their starting debut in England's top four divisions. Toure has now scored four times in two appearances since his move from Danish club Randers.

🏏 Australia will begin its T20 World Cup campaign against Ireland in Colombo tonight, fielding a vastly different squad from recent tournaments. Captain Mitch Marsh remains confident despite losing fast bowlers Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood to injury, while Mitchell Starc has retired from the international T20 format. Star batter Tim David will also miss the opener due to a hamstring issue. Australia is the world’s second-ranked men’s T20 side behind India and are strong favourites to beat world No.11 Ireland. The match begins at 8:30pm (AEDT) on Prime Video.

🏈 San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Keion White underwent surgery after being shot in the ankle early Monday morning, hours after the Super Bowl concluded. The 27-year-old sustained non-life-threatening injuries following a verbal altercation between two groups at a San Francisco business. White is the second 49ers player shot in the city in 18 months, after receiver Ricky Pearsall was shot during a robbery attempt in August 2024.
