Good afternoon!
Even the world's top cyclists are not immune to road rules.
At the Tour of Flanders on Sunday, one of cycling's five most prestigious one-day races, a passing train split the field. World champion Tadej Pogačar was one of several riders who made it across the railway track before the boom gates came down.
Officials made the leaders slow down, but Belgian authorities are now considering prosecuting riders who appeared to run red lights.
Pogačar won anyway, pulling clear on a brutal cobbled climb to take the title for a record-equalling third time.
He now turns his attention to his mailbox, where he’ll nervously wait to see if he will be fined or not.

The time it took American Olympic 100m silver medallist Sha'Carri Richardson to win the Stawell Gift from scratch, which means her competitors had head-starts of up to nine metres in the 120m race. The Stawell Gift is an annual short-distance running race with handicaps held every Easter weekend in Stawell, Victoria. Richardson, whose time was the fastest in the history of the women’s race, is only the third woman to win the race from scratch. Australian medical student Olufemi Komolafe won the men's race. Both winners were awarded $40,000.

"I tend to think [the AFL] just made [the wildcard round] up... Just threw in a couple more finals for no good reason except cash, probably."
Geelong Cats coach Chris Scott speaking on a Fox Footy panel show about the AFL's new Wildcard Finals Round. The format adds an extra round of finals at the end of the season where the teams finishing seventh to 10th play off for two finals spots. Previously, only the top eight teams would play finals. Scott was speaking on the panel shortly after his side lost to Hawthorn by a point (92-91) on Easter Monday at the MCG. Scott prefaced his comment by saying: "This is why I shouldn't do this so close to the game, I speak my mind, which it's good for you and bad for me, generally."

🏉In Super Rugby Pacific Round 8, the Western Force pulled off the result of the weekend with a 42-19 win over the Queensland Reds at Suncorp Stadium, with Argentine lock Franco Molina scoring a hat-trick. The Chiefs beat the NSW Waratahs 42-14 in Hamilton, and Crusaders hooker Codie Taylor scored four tries on his 150th Super Rugby appearance in a 69-26 win over the Fijian Drua. With eight rounds remaining in the regular season, the ACT Brumbies (20 points) are the best-placed Australian team for a finals spot in 4th. The Queensland Reds (6th, 18 points), Waratahs (7th, 14 points) and Force (9th, 8 points) all need to find some late-season form if they want to make the top six.

🏊 The Australian Open Swimming Championships began on Monday at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre, with several world-class times on Day 1. Mollie O'Callaghan posted 52.66 seconds in the 100m freestyle, the second-fastest time in the world this year. Sam Short clocked the world's second-fastest 400m freestyle time this year (3:42.53) and Kaylee McKeown did the same in the 200m backstroke (2:05.66). The three-day non-selection meet is a key form guide ahead of the Australian Trials in June, which will select squads for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games and Pan Pacific Championships.

🏉 In the NRL, the Wests Tigers won an Easter Monday classic, beating the Parramatta Eels 22-20 in golden point at CommBank Stadium in Western Sydney. Jock Madden kicked the winning penalty goal in the 85th minute after the Eels’ Dylan Walker was penalised for being offside. The Tigers led 18-10 before Luke Laulilii was sin-binned for a dangerous tackle, and Eels debutant Apa Twidle scored twice to level scores. Both teams then kicked penalty goals in the final minutes of the match to force extra time at 20-20. The Tigers, who have not finished the season in the top eight since 2011, are now second on the NRL ladder with three wins from four matches. Meanwhile, the Penrith Panthers are the only unbeaten team in the competition at 5-0 after they beat the Melbourne Storm 50-10 on Friday.

Arsenal players train ahead of Wednesday’s quarter final clash (Getty)
Champions League: Quarter final matchups headlined by Spanish derby as Arsenal seek revenge
The Champions League returns this week with four quarter finals taking place across Europe over the next two days.
What is the Champions League?
The Champions League is Europe’s top club football competition, run by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).
It features 36 teams, which first compete in a league-style phase before the competition moves into knockout rounds.
In the quarter-finals, teams play two matches — one home and one away. The winner is decided by the total (aggregate) score across both games. If scores are level, the match goes to extra time and then penalties.
The first legs take place on 7 and 8 April (local time), with the second legs on 14 and 15 April.
Who’s playing?
Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich (5am Wednesday)
This is the most-played fixture in Champions League history, with Bayern Munich and Real Madrid meeting 28 times.
Madrid has the slight edge overall, winning 13 of those matches, compared to Bayern’s 11, with four draws.
However, Madrid has won the last four knockout clashes between the two sides.
Spanish giants Real Madrid are chasing a record-extending 16th Champions League title. Bayern Munich have won the competition six times, most recently in 2020.
Sporting CP vs Arsenal (5am Wednesday )
Sporting CP host Arsenal in Lisbon, with the Portuguese side having been strong at home this season — setting up a tough away trip for the Premier League leaders.
Arsenal have already missed out on two domestic trophy wins this season after being knocked out in the quarter finals of the FA Cup and losing the Carabao Cup final.
They now turn to Europe with hopes for their first Champions League title and to keep their season on track.
Meanwhile, Sporting are playing in just their second Champions League quarter-final and have never reached the semi-finals.
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) vs Liverpool (5am Thursday)
Paris Saint-Germain are the reigning Champions League winners and return with one of the competition’s strongest attacks, led by French forward Ousmane Dembélé.
Liverpool, last season’s Premier League champions, arrive under coach Arne Slot with a fast, high-energy style, highlighted by their 4–0 win over Galatasaray in the previous round.
Liverpool will also be out for revenge after being knocked out by PSG in the Round of 16 last year.
Barcelona vs Atlético de Madrid (5am Thursday)
A Spanish derby headlines the round, with FC Barcelona taking on Atlético Madrid.
FC Barcelona came into the clash after a 2–1 win over Atlético in La Liga — Spain’s top domestic football competition.
Barcelona have won five Champions League titles, most recently in 2015, while Atlético are still chasing their first.
All eyes will also be on 18-year-old Barcelona star Lamine Yamal, who continues to emerge as one of the most exciting young talents in Europe.
