⚽ FIFA has sanctioned El Salvador's football federation for racist and discriminatory fan behaviour during a World Cup qualifying match held earlier this month against Suriname. The federation must pay a $62,715 fine, which will fund an anti-discrimination program, and close 15% of stadium capacity for their next home match. Surinamese players alleged that fans shouted racist abuse and made discriminatory gestures during their match. El Salvador's football federation said it "firmly rejects any manifestation of racism or discrimination" and pledged to work with FIFA and regional body CONCACAF to ensure "respect, equality and unity" at matches.

🏏 Nepal’s men’s cricket team has defeated the West Indies by a record 90 runs to clinch their Twenty20 series with a match to spare. Nepal posted 6-173, with career-best scores of 60 before bowling out the West Indies for just 83 runs in 17.1 overs, marking their second straight win over the two-time T20 World Cup champions. The West Indies' total of 83 represents the lowest score by a full ICC member against an associate nation in T20 cricket, beating England's 88 against the Netherlands in the 2014 World Cup. West Indies captain Akeal Hosein said players must "look in the mirror and ask yourself if you're really international material" after the loss.

Former AFL player Mitch Brown has responded to an Instagram story from Geelong Cats player Bailey Smith posted during ‘Mad Monday’ celebrations.
In the story, Smith posed alongside captain Patrick Dangerfield, with a caption referencing the 2005 film ‘Brokeback Mountain’, which depicts a gay love story.
Brown said: “Losing a grand final doesn’t make you gay”.
Mad Monday
The Geelong Cats lost the grand final to the Brisbane Lions.
Yesterday, they had their ‘Mad Monday’ celebrations, traditional end-of-season club celebrations involving dressing up in costume.
Smith dressed up as Brad Pitt from the movie Legends of the Fall, while Dangerfield dressed up as a cowboy from the TV show Yellowstone.
In Smith’s Instagram story, he posed with Dangerfield and referenced Brokeback Mountain.
The film stars Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal as two cowboys in a romantic relationship.
He added: “This is what losing a [grand final] does to ya.”
Mitch Brown
Brown recently became the first openly bisexual man in the AFL’s history in an exclusive interview with TDA.
He posted a photo of Heath Ledger on his Instagram story, saying: “Just for the record [he]’s way hotter.”
In the following story, he added: “Losing a grand final doesn’t make you gay, but being homophobic definitely makes you a loser.”

Team Europe after winning the Ryder Cup (Getty)
Crowd abuse has become the key story of the Ryder Cup
Team Europe has won one of golf's most prestigious team competitions, beating the United States 15-13 in a dramatic finish at New York's Bethpage Black golf course.
The victory marks Europe's 11th win in the last 15 Ryder Cups, but was overshadowed by hostile fan behaviour that included beer thrown at players' families.
What is the Ryder Cup?
The Ryder Cup is golf's premier team competition, held every two years between teams from Europe and the United States.
Unlike typical golf tournaments, where players compete individually, the Ryder Cup features teams of 12 players competing in various match-play formats over three days. Teams need 14.5 points to win the cup, with points awarded for winning individual matches over the three-day event.
Europe have now won 11 of the past 15 Ryder Cups, including five wins on U.S. soil.
This weekend
While Europe was poised for victory after dominating the first two days of competition, the U.S. mounted a fierce comeback on the final day, winning most of the individual matches.
Ireland's Shane Lowry secured the crucial point that guaranteed Europe would retain the cup, sinking a six-foot birdie putt on the final hole. England's Tyrrell Hatton then clinched the outright victory in the next match.
"It's got to be the most stressful 12 hours of my life," said Europe's captain Luke Donald.
Crowd controversy
European players have alleged they were subjected to sustained verbal abuse from local crowds throughout the three-day event.
The harassment included beer being thrown at the wife of Northern Irish star Rory McIlroy.
McIlroy, who faced the brunt of the hostility, was forced to back out of putts multiple times due to crowd noise. Tournament officials eventually stationed extra security, including police dogs, around the course to maintain order.
"There was a lot of language that was unacceptable and abusive behaviour," McIlroy said after the victory. "It should be off-limits, but obviously it wasn't this week."
The conduct prompted a public apology from American golf legend Tom Watson, an eight-time major champion and former Ryder Cup captain.
Writing on social media today, Watson said: "I'd like to apologise for the rude and mean-spirited behaviour from our American crowd at Bethpage. As a former player, captain, and as an American, I am ashamed of what happened."
The next Ryder Cup will be held in 2027 in Ireland.
