🏉 Adelaide Crows star Izak Rankine is at risk of missing the club’s first finals campaign since 2017 after he allegedly used a homophobic slur during Adelaide’s 60-57 win over Collingwood on Saturday. The AFL confirmed on Monday that its integrity unit is investigating the matter. Earlier this season, the West Coast Eagles’ Jack Graham was suspended for four games for the same offence. Adelaide is currently on top of the table and will look to secure the minor premiership when they play North Melbourne (ranked 16th) in the final round of the regular season this weekend.

The Rugby Championship: week one wrap-up
Australia and New Zealand have made strong starts to The Rugby Championship with wins over South Africa and Argentina, respectively. Here’s what to know.
Australia v South Africa
The Wallabies pulled off perhaps the greatest comeback in Australia’s rugby union history, beating the Springboks at Ellis Park in Johannesburg for the first time since 1963. The Springboks jumped out of the gates and led 22-0 after the opening 18 minutes before the Wallabies went on to score 38 unanswered points.
Flanker Fraser McReight was named the Player of the Match.
The win came at a cost though, with veteran prop James Slipper (concussion) and winger Dylan Pietsch (jaw) both flying back to Australia due to injury. Captain Harry Wilson will also have to demonstrate his fitness this week after coming off with a knee injury after his second of two tries.
The Wallabies will head to Cape Town this weekend for their second Rugby Championship fixture against the Springboks, and a chance to reclaim the Mandela Challenge plate for the first time since 2022.
New Zealand v Argentina
The All Blacks have reclaimed the number one spot in the World Rugby rankings after an impressive 41-24 defeat of Argentina in Cordoba.
Winger Sevu Reece and substitute hooker Samisoni Taukei'aho both crossed the line twice for the visiting side.
The All Blacks and Pumas will meet again next weekend in Buenos Aires.

The Boomers celebrate their 2025 Asia Cup title (Getty)
Boomers win third Asia Cup title after beating China in final
The Boomers have won a third straight Asia Cup title, securing a dramatic 90-89 win over China in the final in Jeddah overnight. Here’s what to know.
What happened
The Boomers trailed by as much as 15 points in the second quarter before mounting a successful fightback. Zhao Rui then missed a crucial three-point shot at the buzzer, which would have secured an upset win for China.
Australia’s Xavier Cooks was named the Player of the Match after recording 30 points and nine rebounds. Jaylin Galloway, who starred for Australia throughout the tournament, also made an impact in the final by drilling six three-pointers and notching a total of 23 points. Galloway was selected as the tournament MVP and was also named in the tournament’s All-Star Five alongside teammate Jack McVeigh.
Galloway said: "This is the most fun I've had playing basketball in a while. It's my first Asia Cup, and it's great to get a gold medal, and I can't believe I got to do it with such a great group of guys. It's been a hell of a run."
Road to glory
The Boomers entered the tournament with a solid squad but were without key NBA stars such as Josh Giddey, Jock Landale, and Dyson Daniels. This allowed players such as Galloway to showcase their talent.
Australia began with a dominant win over South Korea in their opening match, followed by decisive victories against Lebanon and Qatar. In the quarter-finals, they topped the Philippines before going on to beat Iran in the semis.
The win extends Australia’s unbeaten Asia Cup record to 18-0 since joining the competition in 2017 and seals a rare three-peat.
